Colorado GIVES Day: Support a Charity - Change the World!

Tuesday, December 04, 2012 by Tom Zulanas

Today is 12/4/2012 ...if you live in Colorado, I hope you had heard that it is Colorado GIVES Day.

Community First Foundation with the help of First Bank and GivingFirst is spreading the news - to boost funds for non-profits.  There are so many great organizations that are deserving, and we LIKE: 1010 Project, Boys Hope Girls Hope, Go Green Warehouse, Veteran Green Jobs, Habitat for Humanity, or FIRST to name just a few that we've been around.

Besides the time and support you give to that charity, this week's SEO (Search Engine Optimization) & SMM (social media marketing) tip we'd like to share is:

...Tell & show your customers you support this charity.

Your customers (and future customers) may connect and LIKE you more because of your support for the charity.  This allows your donation to last longer and get marketing points by asking for them to join you in supporting the charity.  The charity may also Re-Tweeting or LIKING your message on their social media platforms too (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, Google+).  That opens up your message to all of the charities other donors & sponsors.

Of course, December 4th is toward the start of the Holiday Season (i.e. Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, New Years) - where people LIKE to be associated with charities.  One of the feature speakers at the 2012 X.com was Blake Mycoskie; and he talked about this same philosophy as he started Toms Shoes...get involved in a charity - doing good and Change the World!

This may also add into your business' SEO/keywords strategy - associating your business with their charity.  That's not a bad thing either.
